Water and drain service
Drain cleaning and clogged drain service in NYC
Slow sink, standing water in the tub, a floor drain that gurgles. We clear it the same day in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Manhattan, find out why it clogged, and tell you how to keep it clear.
Drains we clear
Every drain in a home or building, from a bathroom sink to the main line to the street.
Kitchen sink drains
Grease and food buildup in the trap and branch line. Cleared with a cable, jetted if the line is coated.
Bathroom sink and tub drains
Hair and soap scum. Usually a quick cable job; we check the overflow and stopper too.
Shower and floor drains
Cleared and the trap checked. A floor drain that backs up when the washer runs points to the main line.
Toilet clogs
Augered on the spot. A toilet that clogs repeatedly gets pulled and checked for a lodged object or a failing flush valve.
Main line and house trap
Cabled from the cleanout or trap, hydro-jetted for grease and roots, with a camera to see what is in the line.
Commercial and restaurant drains
Scheduled jetting of kitchen lines and grease interceptor service outside business hours.
Snake, hydro-jet or camera: which one and why
A drain cable (snake) punches through a blockage and pulls out hair or debris. It is the right tool for most bathroom clogs and for a first pass on a kitchen line. Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the full inside of the pipe, removing the grease, scale and root mass a cable only bores a hole through. It is what we use for kitchen lines that clog every few months, restaurant drains, and main lines with roots.
A camera inspection shows us the pipe itself: a sag holding water, a crack, an offset joint, a root intrusion. If a drain has clogged more than twice, the camera is cheaper than the third visit. We show you the footage and explain what we see.
We do not pour chemical drain cleaners and we ask you not to either; they damage older pipes and make a line dangerous to work on.
Keep it clear
- No grease down the kitchen sink, ever
- Strainers in every bathroom drain
- Run hot water for 30 seconds after the kitchen sink
- Flush only paper; no wipes, even "flushable" ones
- Floor drains: pour a bucket of water in monthly so the trap stays full
- Repeat clogs: ask for the camera

Questions
Do you offer same-day drain cleaning?
Yes, in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Manhattan, seven days a week. Most single-drain clogs are cleared in under an hour.
What is the difference between snaking and hydro-jetting?
Snaking bores through a blockage with a cable. Hydro-jetting scours the entire pipe wall with high-pressure water, removing grease, scale and roots. Jetting lasts longer and is what we recommend for kitchen lines and main lines that clog repeatedly.
Why does my kitchen sink keep clogging?
Grease. It cools and coats the branch line, and each clearing with a cable only bores a hole through it. Jetting the line and keeping grease out of the sink stops the cycle.
Are you an alternative to the big national drain companies?
Yes. GW Mechanical Corp is a licensed NYC master plumber, local to Brooklyn, with the same jetting and camera equipment, and a plumber rather than a drain technician on every call, so if the clog turns out to be a broken pipe, the same person can fix it.
Can chemical drain cleaner fix a clog?
It can eat through a hair clog in a bathroom sink, but it also attacks old metal pipes and gaskets and makes the line hazardous for the plumber who works on it next. We recommend against it.
